The agent taps a button. A dialog appears. Without change detection, the agent has to re-read the entire screen to figure out what happened. With it, the system tells the agent exactly what's new: "JUST APPEARED since your last action: 'OK', 'Cancel', 'Delete permanently' — check it's the effect you intended."

The implementation is elegant. Each step, a regex extracts all labels and IDs from the screen text into a set (curLabels). The diff against the previous step's set (lastScreenLabels) gives the appeared set. Two conditions gate the output: the screens must OVERLAP (curLabels shares members with lastScreenLabels — so a full app navigation doesn't report "everything appeared"), and the diff must be small (1-5 items — a real, readable delta, not a flood).

This is broad cause-and-effect perception. The agent acted; the system tells it what changed. Not whether the action "succeeded" (that's the outcome-expectation system), but what showed up. The agent judges whether the change is what it intended.

The dense-screen gate applies here too (screen.length <= 1000). On a launcher with 80 elements, the change set would be noisy and expensive in tokens. On a normal screen with 15 elements, surfacing that 2 new ones appeared is high-value, low-cost information.

This sits in the orient string, alongside WHERE YOU ARE and PATH THIS TASK. It's perception — the agent reads it, the agent decides. The system never says "a dialog appeared, so click OK." It says "OK, Cancel, and Delete permanently just appeared." The driver interprets the road; the car just cleaned the windshield.
