The dominant per-step cost in LDA is the vision encode — 15-30 seconds on the GPU for a single screenshot. On a 200-step task, that's an hour of just looking at screenshots. The vision skip system cuts this in half or better on most tasks, and it does it without ever making the agent blind.

Three tiers of compute saving:

**Tier 1: Pixel-unchanged skip.** If the pixel hash says the screen is identical to last step (pixelChange 0-2), the screenshot is literally the same image the model already processed. Run text-only — the fresh accessibility tree still carries the full state. Zero information loss, ~15s saved.

**Tier 2: Text-complete skip.** The screen changed, but (almost) every actionable element has a text label in the accessibility tree. If 85%+ of elements are labeled (on a flagship — 75% on mid-tier, 65% on budget), the screenshot adds latency without adding much perception. The model "sees" via the tree, and the set-of-marks badge coordinates still target every element precisely. Gated to non-troubled steps (not stalled, not repeating, no pending feedback) so the agent always gets vision when something's going wrong.

**Tier 3: Lean image.** When full-res isn't needed but text-only isn't safe either, drop from 640px/JPEG-60 to 512px/JPEG-50. Less GPU memory, fewer vision tokens. Triggers: weak device (always lean), critical RAM pressure (any screen), or tight RAM on a dense screen. "Breathe when there's juice" — back to full res the moment pressure clears.

The tier-aware labeled-fraction bar is the owner's one-build-many-devices principle in action. A budget phone with a slow GPU leans HARDER on the cheap text path (65% bar) to stay fast and alive. The flagship stays conservative (85% bar) because it has the compute to look. Same agent, different calibration based on what it's driving.

The confidence feedback loop ties this together: if the model said confidence:"low" on the previous step, lastConfidenceLow is set and the next step KEEPS vision regardless of text-completeness. The model's uncertainty becomes a signal to spend more compute, not less. Adaptive compute in both directions — save when confident, invest when unsure.
