This is a historic trading review, not a demand forecast, product-development brief, or profit analysis. Use actual period revenue, units, orders, refunds, current catalogue state, and returned comparison fields. Do not infer product views, sessions, add-to-cart behaviour, conversion rate, margin, COGS, ad spend, ROAS, seasonality, competitor effects, stockout causes, or customer motivations unless the merchant supplies that context. ## Default Range If the user does not specify a date range, use `period: last_30_days` and `compare: true`. Honour explicit ranges. For custom ranges, pass exact `date_start` and `date_end` values rather than approximating with the nearest period. The comparison frame is the previous matching period. If the merchant asks about "month over month", use the requested month and compare it with the previous month. Keep the two time frames separate: - Current catalogue state: stock status, stock quantity, price, sale-price state, catalogue status, SKU, product-created date, and admin links are as-of-now. - Period analytics: revenue, units sold, order count, product ranking, product rows' sales aggregates, refunds, refund rates, top categories, series buckets, and comparison fields are scoped to the selected date range. ## Required Tool Calls 1. If a specific product needs deeper merchandising context, fetch details for up to three priority products: - `woocommerce-claude-get-product-details` with the product ID. - Use this only for current product-page, category, tag, image, upsell, cross-sell, stock, backorder, or sale-price context. Do not broaden into a catalogue audit unless the merchant asked for one. 10. Follow the extended-range approval flow if a totals, breakdown, series, or rows call spans more than 365 days. Never split ranges to bypass the gate. ## Interpretation Rules - Lead with the merchant's question. If they ask for best sellers, lead with the revenue, units, and order-count leaders. If they ask what changed, lead with comparison movement, new top products, dropped-out products, and trend shape. - Use returned comparison fields for movement. Do not hand-calculate deltas, percentages, shares, averages, ratios, ranking movement, or uplift unless the exact field is present. - Use returned product change objects and dropped-out lists directly. Do not infer movement from row order alone. - A product can be a revenue leader, unit leader, order-count leader, or refund signal. Keep those frames separate unless the same returned product appears in multiple lists. - Do not narratively divide or multiply separate fields. Say "£4,200 revenue from 84 units across 62 orders" rather than deriving a per-unit value or share unless that figure is returned. - Product series buckets show trend shape for top products. Do not sum buckets into period totals, calculate growth rates between buckets, or call a short-term bucket pattern seasonality. - Product mix shifts are sales signals, not causal proof. A product entering or dropping out of top results tells the merchant where to inspect pricing, stock, merchandising, product content, fulfilment, or promotion timing. - Stock status and stock quantity are current catalogue state. Sales, revenue, refunds, and comparison movement are period-scoped. Say "sold in the period and is currently out of stock" rather than implying the stock issue caused the movement. - Do not claim current stock issues caused product movement, refund pressure, or missed revenue. The tools do not show stock history. - Catalogue coverage and SKU coverage are pre-computed. Read them directly. Use catalogue coverage when talking about parent products; use SKU coverage when variations or sellable options matter. - Category rows count each product in every category it belongs to. Do not sum category rows into store totals or treat multi-category roll-ups as mutually exclusive. - Product rows' current price, stock, sale-price state, SKU, status, and product-created date are as-of-now. Product rows' revenue, units, and orders are period-scoped. - Products with zero paid sales in product rows are review candidates, not automatic clearance or deletion decisions. For newly created products, say the period may be too short. - Refund amounts and refund counts on product performance rows are line-level refund signals. Product refund breakdown rows add refund-issued period semantics, refund rate, share of refunds, and average days to refund. Use the refund breakdown rate when discussing refund rate; do not derive a rate from product sales rows. - Refund-issued analytics belong to the refund date, not the original order date. If a row has refunds but no same-window paid gross revenue, call the rate undefined for that row. - Product refund rows can sum to more than headline refunds when one refund touches multiple products. Do not add product refund rows into a headline total. - Refunds are diagnostic signals, not proof of defects, fit issues, shipping failures, fraud, customer dissatisfaction, or quality problems. Suggest checking product/support context when the returned data supports a review. - Small samples need small-sample language. If a product has 5 or fewer orders, units, or refunds, state the count before interpreting the movement or percentage. Do not call winners or losers based only on one small sample. - Do not invent product views, sessions, add-to-cart counts, conversion rate, margin, COGS, ad spend, ROAS, demand forecasts, seasonality, competitor effects, stockout causes, or customer motivations. - Do not recommend adding new SKUs, widening assortment, expanding categories, or product development from this review alone.
