Getting started

Preparation for installing WRFDA depends on how you plan on using it. There are several different ways that WRFDA could be set up. We recommend that you try the "Basic 3DVAR" case if this is your first experience with WRFDA.


Basic 3DVAR

This is the easiest WRFDA method, but it is by no means easy for a beginner. Through this tutorial, however, we hope to at least make it relatively painless.

Compiling WRFDA for 3DVAR (basic)   


Advanced 3DVAR

This branch of the tutorial will go over more advanced options, such as compiling for parallel execution, reading observations in PREPBUFR format, assimilating radiance observations, and running in cycling mode.

Hybrid Variational/Ensemble Data Assimilation

This branch of the tutorial will introduce WRFDA's Hybrid Variational/Ensemble system.

4DVAR

This branch of the tutorial will go over more advanced options, such as reading in bufr files, assimilating radiance observations, and running in cycling mode.

This final branch of the tutorial will describe the Forecast Sensitivity to Observations (FSO) utility.
