Everything was spotless and new carpet. The office workers are really nice. We can hardly ever hear neighbors or upstairs, there's a nice big grassy area to walk a dog and the price is really good for the quality and size. Main downside, in my opinion, is the dated interior, which included a bathroom with consistent mold issues, but it was manageable with regular cleaning of the ceiling.", "owner_response": null }, { "author": "Kate Ortiz", "rating": 4, "review": "Affordable, close to town, bus route, and other services. Month to month so good for students. I moved here because it was one of the few affordable places i could have my cats and have easy bus access to school. I've been here for two and a half years and have been very content. Quiet and warm too - hardly ever any big parties because there's not many students. Office responds to concerns quickly. Spacious. I have no complaints. Some people complain that you have to pay for laundry but it's about half the price of the Bellingham Cleaning Center nearby and it saves a ton on the electric bill. Plus you can do three loads at once! anyway, really great place to live.", "owner_response": null }, { "author": "Angela Johnson", "rating": 1, "review": "I had to move when I saw someone in the parking lot using with the car door open, they didn't even live there. No response to problems, condoms and even needles found around the property. They have a security camera which one of the workers told me, it doesn't work, it's just for looks. A lot of neighbors complained of theft of of their cars. Theft from the laundry rooms. A bunch of bums and users stay in the little wooded area right by some of the parking spaces. Not worth it!!", "owner_response": null }, { "author": "T", "rating": 1, "review": "DO NOT MOVE HERE! I lived here for years and there is black mold in every wall(they clean the exterior when you do inspection of unit so it doesn't show up until a few weeks after move in). The often \"misplace\" packages. There are drug addicts EVERYWHERE. Constant garbage on ground of premises. Good

The Hideaway Apartments have received some praise for their affordability and location convenience. A reviewer highlighted the property's proximity to bus routes, making it a suitable option for students, along with its spacious units. Additionally, the management team is recognized for their prompt responses to concerns, which contributes to a general sense of satisfaction among some tenants. Furthermore, residents have noted the clean and quiet environment, which creates a peaceful atmosphere that is rare to find in many apartment complexes. Another tenant appreciated the well-kept grounds, especially the large grassy area, which is ideal for pet owners seeking a comfortable space for their dogs to roam. These elements make the Hideaway Apartments an appealing choice for individuals prioritizing affordability and a pet-friendly environment.

Great

Some aspects of Hideaway Apartments have earned high praise from tenants. The premises are maintained in a way that ensures a quiet and cozy living experience, with several residents mentioning minimal noise disturbances from neighbors. The affordability of the apartments is a significant highlight in the reviews, with one tenant particularly appreciating the ability to rent month-to-month, making it a flexible choice for those with changing needs. Additionally, the apartments are noted for their roomy interiors, which offer more space compared to similar properties in the area, satisfying tenants who require ample living quarters.

Bad

Despite some positive feedback, numerous reviews underlines areas where Hideaway Apartments fall short. Maintenance issues appear to be a recurring theme, with several tenants reporting persistent problems, such as mold in bathrooms and pests like silverfish and ants during warmer months. One user explained that the issues were not immediately apparent, surfacing after a short time residing in the unit. The cleanliness of communal areas like the laundry room has been criticized as well, with inadequate sanitation practices raising concerns among residents. Additionally, some tenants have expressed dissatisfaction with the dated interiors, which, despite initial cleanliness, do not meet modern aesthetic expectations.

Ugly

The Hideaway Apartments have faced criticism regarding severe safety and security issues. Several user reviews recount alarming experiences, such as encountering drug use in parking lots and theft from vehicles and laundry rooms. One tenant was disturbed by the presence of unauthorized individuals around the property, contributing to a feeling of insecurity. The existence of non-functional security cameras is a grave concern for residents, as customers were led to believe these devices provided some level of protection against crime. Moreover, multiple reports have surfaced about unjust retention of security deposits, creating financial strain for departing tenants who received little explanation for these charges. These significant issues highlight the need for the property's management to urgently address safety and transparency concerns.
