The Maintenance Hatch is part of the new Multiblock Machines. It is used to fix various mechanical problems that arise from the machine's operation.

Currently, it is used in the following:

In most cases, every problem listed decreases the machine's efficiency by 10%. If too many problems arise, the machine will automatically shut down. Problems can be fixed with the use of various Tools, or for a temporary solution, all problems can be fixed at once with the use of a roll of BrainTech Aerospace Advanced Reinforced Duct Tape FAL-84. ("If you can't fix it with this, use more of it!")

Check if there are no blocks missing.
The Multiblock control block (a Large Steam Turbine, Large Gas Turbine, or Thermal Boiler block) lists all current problems. When initially placed, all possible problems will be listed, and must be fixed before bringing the machine online. This is to prevent an exploit wherein a person could theoretically avoid performing maintenance on his machines by simply breaking and replacing the Maintenance Hatch or controller block every time a problem arose. Breaking and placing the main block causes all problems to return. A machine missing a Maintenance Hatch will trigger the message "Incomplete Structure," and stop the machine.

Note: The Maintenance Hatch block cannot be interacted with by any blocks or entities other than players themselves. This means that automating the use of tools to automatically repair the machine is not currently possible.
