Goodrich-Seely Wedding

   Mr. David Z. Goodrich and Miss Lena Edna Seely, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Seely of Nelson, were married at the Presbyterian chuch in Nelson last Thursday at 1:30 p. m. by Rev. Joseph Colclough, over 200 guests witnessed the ceremony.

   Mrs. O. B. Blanchard played the wedding march from Lohengrin as the bridal party, in the following order, entered the church, from the left isle: Two ushers, Raymond Baker and O. B. Blanchard, Rev. Joseph Colclough, the groom and his best man, John Olmstead, of Elmira. From the right isle: Prof. A. J. Dann, of Mansfield, Pa., and Roy Brown, of Elkland, Pa., ushers, little Isabelle Hoyt in white, strewing flowers, the bride in white silk muslin trimmed with lace carrying an arm bouquet of carnations tied with white ribbon an the bridesmaid, Miss Emily Seely, sister of the bride, in white embroidered linen with pink sash and pink carnations. All met under rope draperies of laurel and white lilacs. The ring ceremony was used.

   After the ceremony a reception was held at the bride's home where luncheon was served by the following young ladies under the direction of Miss Hun, caterer of Elmira: Misses Ina Crandall, Clare Baxter1, Eva Hooker, Elsie Colclough, Pearl Anderson, Edith Finch, Rhea Van Dyke and Clara Eaton. The brides table was decorated in green and white. Covers were laid for 12. The remainder of the guests were served at small tables.

   The presents consisting of silver, cut glass, china and furniture, were very uniquely displayed in the back parlor.

   Many out of town guests from Athens, Wellsboro, Mansfield, Williamsport, Elmira, Elkland, Osceola, Knoxville, Harrison Valley and Farmington were present.

   The bride's travelling gown was of tan and white check trimmed in silk strapings with hat, gloves and shoes of tan.

   Mr. and Mrs. Goodrich left at 5:10 for Philadelphia and New York, accomdanied [sic] by 25 friends who thought it necessary to see them properly ticketed on their train at Lawrenceville. Miss Emily Seely went to Philadelphia with them where she will assist at the weddong of her cousin, Leon Losey, on June 18th.

1. Clair/Clare/Clara Baxter -- actually Clarissa Madge (Baxter) Smith (1883 - ?). She was one of Nelson's prettiest girl, is mentioned in Campbell Cousins Club letters and was a friend of my mother. Clare was a niece of Eva (Baxter) Hazlett, and a granddaughter of George H. Baxter, whose first wife was Sarah Clarissa Campbell.
