Marcus Brutus Seely (1847 - 1932)

Marcus "Mark" Seely was born Oct. 29, 1847, in Osceola, Tioga Co., PA; d. July 8, 1932 in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA. Married Jan. 1, 1871 in Nelson to Susan E. Losey, b. Jun. 26, 1850, in Nelson; d. 1894 in Osceola. Sue's parents were Artemus Losey, born 1797 in Orange Co., NY, and Eleanor Brown House, born 1816 in CT.

Mark was the eldest of 3 children of Mary Ann Campbell, b. 1826 in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA, d. there 1875; and Allen Seely, born 1826 in Osceola, died there in 1909.

Mark was the proprietor of a dry goods store1 on the main street of Nelson, opposite the old post office. Mark was a mainstay of the Beecher's Island Presbyterian Church. And he was Treasurer of the 1893 - 1895, 1903, 1905 & 1908 Campbell Reunions and president of the 1902 reunion.

Mark and Sue (Losey) Seely had two children:

  1. Lena Edna Seely, b. Jul. 24 1873 in Nelson, m. David Zebulon Goodrich [brother-in-law of Cousin Joseph D. Hoyt]; and
  2. Emily A. Seely , b. Mar. 26, 1880 in Nelson, m. Charles Randolph Blanchard.
