January 15, 1999 The National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) and the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) recently concluded a survey of over 5000 data users throughout the United States. This survey provides a snapshot of data being produced and used in state, regional, and local governments that could contribute to the building of a framework of locally-produced, locally maintained data themes available to all.
