Are
schools getting the most they can from computers? Unfortunately, access to technology does
not mean that technology is necessarily being used. To integrate technology effectively, teachers
must overcome a number of challenges and become more proficient computer users.
In spring 1999 SEIR*TEC at AEL conducted a survey of software selection and use among teachers in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Responses demonstrate that the use of classroom technology is limited. Eighty-three percent of teachers who participated in the survey reported they never use computers in their classes.
Educational Software Use: Results From a 1999 Regional Survey identifies issues for further research and technical assistance available in the SEIR*TEC region.
