There's lizardscale, gatorskin, lionhide and many others. I will also fill
in with banded where needed, but I will not wear more than
leather/leather-like on my hands to be able to play my instruments.

Any other options for "leather" looking, or specialty armor thats not
plate in coloration and sheen? But that would give moderate to
equivalent protection ?
