I've been weaving exclusively non-targeted songs while charming. Largo's is
a good choice since it ensures your pet will likely beat an opponent mob
that is his identical twin. Another good choice is Hymn if you aren't
outside running around. I use Selo's if I'm outside just to get an extra
recharm chance or two before getting smacked.

With that technique, you have to keep switching targets rights? That is
the problem I was having, switching targets and weaving the songs...
