You still have to mouse - drag & drop. Even though we call them "hot keys"
they are really just place to mouse - side by side and visible while in the
'normal' view mode (ie: you don't have to open the inventory screen.)

So my hot key pallet is like this:

1 inv - 1 melee

2 inv - 2 melee

3 inv - 7 inv

With stuffs set for battle:

1 inv (empty) - 1 melee Ashenwood Spear

2 inv Mandolin - 2 melee Dragoon Dirk

3 inv Drum - 7 inv Flute

So now to switch to heal mode: click Ashenwood, click Mandolin, click Dirk,
click empty spot and you will see:

1 inv Dirk - 1 melee (empty)

2 inv Ashenwood - 2 melee Mandolin

3 inv Drum - 7 inv Flute
