ATESST is a two-year European project in the form of a Specific Targeted Research or Innovation Project, STREP. The project is coordinated by Volvo Technology Corp. Partners of the project consortium include Daimler Chrysler AG, Volvo Cars, Volvo Technology Corp and VW/Carmeq, ETAS Gmbh, Mecel AB, Mentor Graphics and SiemensVDO Automotive SAS, Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique, Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, Technische Universitaet Berlin.
The automotive industry has specific problems, particularly due to increased safety requirements and legal framework. The automobile is a hostile environment: especially in the engine compartment. Some failure modes will be benign, whereas others may be dangerous and cause accidents and endanger human life. This project is focusing on automotive safety embedded system.
