BODY SHAMING IS THE NEW FAME
The ugly thing of this society is BODY SHAMING . it may be a term which is gaining popularity nowadays , but body shaming is together with the society from the centuries. Body shaming is a pervasive form of prejudice, found in critiques of celebraties , appearances, at work places, and in public too for everyday.
Growing up , I was always lean. Throughout I realised that People who are battling obesity face being stereotyped as lazy, incompetent, unattractive, lacking willpower, and to blame for their excess weight. The pain of these messages may take a toll on health and increase risk of cardiovascular and metabolic disease.
inappropriate negative statements and attitudes toward another person's weight or size are like,
“You’re too skinny, put on some pounds. Those jeans hang on you”.
“Fatty, fatty”.
“So chubby your daughter is”.
“You’re looking lovely, have you lost weight?”
Sounds familiar? How many of us have heard statements like these, every day. How many of us have unknowingly made statements like these too. At what point being ‘healthy’ got replaced by being ‘slim’, is a matter of much debate. But body shaming is a sad reality that we all have inadvertently been a part of and continue to be a part of.
In today’s times too, what is considered attractive in one culture may not be considered so in another. Various experiments have been done over the years where one image was sent to designers across the world, asking them to make the girl look ‘beautiful’. What came out as a result of this experiment was interesting. And that is – There is no universal concept of beauty.
You are beautiful in your own way, don’t be ashamed of anything. love yourself and ofcourse your body and there is no one to say about your body and if there is someone then make him/her see what you can do?
Don’t be silent anymore! ,raise your voice against it.
