HP Printer Network Sharing Setup enabling file and printer sharing will allow you to access resources from your computer to other computers on a network. The file and printer sharing component are installed and enabled by default.
HP Printer Network Sharing Setup – To share your HP printer with Others on Your Network
- Open Printers and Faxes. Click Start → Control Panel → click Printers and Other Hardware → Printers and Faxes.
- Right click the HP printer you want to share, and then click Sharing.
- Under the Sharing tab, click Share this printer and then type a share name for the shared HP printer.
- You will have to click Additional Drivers if you want to share the HP printer with others using different hardware or by using different operating systems. To install the additional drivers, Click the Environment and OS for the other computers, and then click OK.
- Then click OK again, or if you have already installed additional drivers, click Close.
HP Printer Network Sharing Setup – To stop sharing your HP printer
- Open Printers and Faxes. Click Start → Control Panel → Printers and Other Hardware → Printers and Faxes on your computer.
- Right-click the HP printer you want to stop sharing, and then click Sharing.
- Under the Sharing tab, you can click Do Not share this printer.
HP Printer Network Sharing Setup – To connect to an HP printer on a network
- Open Printers and Faxes. Click Start → Control Panel → Printers and Other Hardware → Printers and Faxes on your computer.
- Under Printer Tasks Command, click Add a printer to open the Add Printer Wizard dialog box, then click Next.
Click on the option a network printer or a printer attached to another computer, then click Next.

- To search for an HP printer in Active Directory
- Click Find a printer in the directory option, and then click Next.
- Under find printers tab, Click the Browse button right next to Location, click the printer location, then click OK.
- Then, Click Find Now.
- Click the HP printer you want to connect to, and then click OK.
