at least i dont consider myself a noob anymore 
i frequently post long, difficult questions to beyondunreal forums. many of my biggest problems turn out to be really stupid quirks (couldnt use my own meshes/textures for ages because i didnt know u must have a group specified hehe)
hopefully i'll finish something before the next generation of UT!
