MD5

MD5 was developed by [Professor Ronald L. Rivest of MIT]

The MD5 algorithm takes as input a message of arbitrary length and produces as output a 128-bit "fingerprint" or "message digest" of the input. It is conjectured that it is computationally infeasible to produce two messages having the same message digest, or to produce any message having a given prespecified target message digest. The MD5 algorithm is intended for digital signature applications, where a large file must be "compressed" in a secure manner before being encrypted with a private (secret) key under a public-key cryptosystem such as RSA.

Discussion

Wormbo: This implementation is suboptimal due to the way UnrealScript's handles parameters and function calls. It probably spends 30-50% of the execution time only passing parameters and calling functions – two things UnrealScript isn't particularly good at (especially with large parameters like the MD5 context here) because it involves assigning values to variables.
I'm currently working on implementations of MD5Hash and SHA1Hash for UnrealScript and the MD5 algorithm generally out-performs this one by 30-40%.
