The
Industrial Blast Furnace was the first GregTech 100% Lagfree Multiblock Machine. It is designed as a higher-tech version of the conventional Furnace. Its job is to unlock the higher areas of the tech tree, by allowing you to smelt Steel, Aluminium, Titanium, Chrome, Silicon Plates, Tungsten, and Tungstensteel. It also contains recipes for Galena Dust, and more efficient recipes to convert Iron Ore directly into Iron.
The Recipes available to an Industrial Blast Furnace are dependent upon its Heat Capacity, a statistic unique to the Industrial Blast Furnace. Heat Capacity refers to how high of temperatures the Furnace can reach, is determined by the construction of the Blast Furnace, and determines what recipes are available to the Furnace. This also makes the Industrial Blast Furnace the centerpiece of the GregTech tech tree, as its level of development shows and governs what resources are available for you to use.
Large tech advances are are at 1700K, 2000K, which allow the player to smelt Titanium and Stainless Steel, respectively. Titanium smelting enables construction of a Silk Touch Rock Cutter, and Stainless Steel smelting enables construction of the
Industrial Centrifuge, which further enables construction of a Thermal Centrifuge. Each of these machines allow many resources (metals, fuels, and rare materials) to be obtained more efficiently or via alternate means. A player with more time than resources (even AFK time) could opt to use one or more
Bronze Blast Furnaces to make enough steel to start at a 1700K or 2000K Industrial Blast Furnace, exchanging that additional time to save materials.
Maximum EU/t Input
128 EU/t (
MV)
Minimum EU/t Input
120 EU/t
If less than 120/t is available from the combination of this machine's power input and power buffer, all progress will be lost and any further EU that does not total 120/t will be completely wasted.
Note: Certain recipes may consume more than 120EU/t. In order to carry out these recipes,
install either Transformer Upgrades, Storage Upgrades, or both.
Recipe:

4x Cupronickel Heating Coil
2x Electronic Circuit
2x Induction Furnace
1x Steel/Stainless Steel Machine Hull
Construction:
Construction of a GregTech Industrial Blast Furnace requires one Industrial Blast Furnace (block) and 34 Machine Casings (any), in a 4-block high hollow 3x3 box. The I. Blast Furnace block is placed on the bottom, in the center of any of the 4 sides, with its back facing the Casings. The higher grade Machine Casings have increased Heat Capacity over the lower ones. Machine Casings in a Blast Furnace may be broken and replaced with higher grade Machine Casings to increase the Furnace's Heat Capacity. This allows you to, over time, upgrade the capabilities of your Industrial Blast Furnace, as superior materials become available and are needed. Unlike GregTech machine blocks, Machine Casings cannot be wrenched, and in stead are broken with an Iron Pickaxe.
In addition to the Machine Casings, there are two other ways you can increase the Heat Capacity of an Industrial Blast Furnace:
1) The two hollow (air) blocks inside the Machine Casings can be filled with Lava. Each of these Lava blocks will increase the maximum Heat Capacity of the furnace by 250K.
2) Application of Kanthal and Nichrome Heating Coils to the Industrial Blast Furnace block. (See the Upgrades section below)

When using Kanthal and Nichrome Heating Coil upgrades, the Kanthal Heating Coils must be applied before the Nichrome Heating Coils. To apply these upgrades, simply hold 4 of the relevant Coils in your hand, and Right Click on the Industrial Blast Furnace block. Like all GregTech upgrades, the Blast Furnace will keep these upgrades when wrenched.
Note that Kanthal Heating Coils cannot be crafted without
2500K Heat capacity. While Nichrome Heating Coils are made using the Alloy Furnace, they cannot be applied without the Kanthal Heating Coil upgrade.
To achieve a Heat Capacity of
3000K, required for Tungstensteel, construct a Blast Furnace with a Heat Capacity of
2000K, and apply a set of Kanthal and Nichrome Heating Coils. Note that you MUST apply at least one set of Heating Coils in order to reach 3000K.
Recipes:
Note 1: The colour of the EU Needed value indicates the EU/t consumed.
Green: 120EU/t, Yellow: 500EU/t.
Note 2: Hot Ingots must be cooled in a Vacuum Freezer to become usable.
Note 3: The Industrial Blast Furnace will accept Dirty/Purified Dusts and Crushed Ores for the dusts listed below; however the EU costs and time are 14x higher.
