"Produces Metal Rods more efficiently."
The Lathe is an electric machine used to create metal rods much more efficiently than a File would. It can be thought of as a "stick-making machine". It takes one metal ingot and produces either two rods, or one rod and two Tiny Piles of Dust, whereas a File only produces one rod per ingot. The Lathe can also be used in the place of a Saw for sawing Wood Planks into Sticks.
It was added as part of the early-game tool rework of version 3.10a.

Maximum Safe Input:

32EU/p (LV)

When processing Wood into Sticks, the Lathe consumes 8EU/t. When processing metal into rods, the Lathe consumes 16EU/t.

Technical Recipe Information


The recipes for this machine come from checking the Forge Ore Dictionary for all items registered as Wood Planks ("plankWood"), and metal ingots ("ingot[Metal]") that have a corresponding rod ("stick[Metal]"). If a metal has a dust, the Lathe will produce 1 Rod and 2 Tiny Piles of Dust. If a metal does not have a dust, the Lathe will take longer to process, but produce 2 rods. All metal rods are registered in the Ore Dictionary as "stick[Metal]".

Note: All metal rods that have a corresponding dust can be macerated back into 2 Tiny Piles of Dust.
