During this event members had an opportunity to learn about internship opportunities, the full time application process, company culture, Axiom Zen’s tech stack and get any questions they had answered by company HR and engineering representatives! Around 20 students attended this event.
This event featured a short presentation from a Splunk recruiter to discuss the hiring process, followed by amazing software engineers speaking about their experiences and answering questions. Attendees had a chance to ask panelists any questions in breakout rooms about their career paths and more! There were 23 students in attendance for this event.
During this event recruiters from SAP answered student questions and shared information about topics such as the SAP internship process, resume preparation, company culture, and more. There were 39 students in attendance.
This was our second recruiting event with Fortinet! There were 15 students in attendance.
Members got together during the reading week to destress and work on felt needle kits or other creative projects together!
Our second technical interview event of the year was a huge success! During this event, small groups worked to solve a typical technical interview question with a mentor and ask any questions they had about this portion of the interview process. There were 25+ students and 24 mentors in attendance at this event!
At this event, Fortinet’s recruiters and students came together to discuss Fortinet's services, hiring process and much more. More than 20+ students attended this event.
This event was focused on helping WiCS students understand the variety of careers paths that can come from having a degree in computer science, engineering or other relevant majors. Students connect and network with industry mentors. There were 69 students and 11 mentors in attendance at this event!
UBC WiCS members gathered for some post-finals fun and relaxation at this event! Smaller groups played games like Among Us and pictionary, and also created some fun seasonal art all together!
This joint event with SFU WiCS took place with the purpose of fostering a community where undergraduate and graduate students can network, seek career advice, and share life stories in a safe space. The event featured speed networking with icebreaker questions and a brainstorming session for planning career, research and social oriented events for the future.
The focus of this event was to help women* in Computer Science students at UBC to prepare for resume and recruiter screening rounds of interviews. Students were matched up with an industry mentor to review their resume with and practice answering some behavioral interview questions! There were 8 mentors and 20 students at this event!
This social event featured a spooky virtual scavenger and competitive costume contest!
Being comfortable with technical interview takes practice, practice, practice! At this mock interview event, UBC WiCS members had the chance to interact with mentors from various companies and learn about their interviewing experiences. They were paired with one paired with one industry mentor and possibly one other student and provided with a typical interview question to discuss and solve. We had 27 attendees at this event!
This was our first official social event of the year! UBC WiCS members had the chance to ask execs ANYTHING they wanted, topics discussed included co-op applications, course planning, career development, personal project, mentoring and hackathons!
Although a wildly different year than last, we kicked off the year with enthusiasm and excitedness at our virtual Imagine Day booth and engaged with women* UBC students from different years!
