Margo Seltzer

Margo Seltzer is thrilled to be an advisor to the UBC Women in Computer Science group! Margo joined UBC in September 2018 as a Canada 150 Research Chair in Computer Systems, after 25 years on the CS faculty at Harvard, where she also co-advised the Women in Computer Science group since its inception. Her research is in the area of all things systems: operating systems, databases, file systems, systems for machine learning, etc. She is also a devoted soccer player, rabid fan of professional women’s soccer, a mother of two, and a purveyor of interesting, delicious, and functional cakes.


Michele Nguyen

Michele is a project coordinator at UBC Computer Science and has been working on Diversity in Tech for 20 years. Michele was the staff lead of the CS Department’s Focus of Women in Computer Science Committee since its inception in 2000, and is currently the staff lead for the Committee on Outreach, Diversity and Equity (CODE). She has also worked as the project coordinator for the Supporting Women in Information Technology (SWIFT) Project under the IBM-NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, Professor Maria Klawe, and the JADE Project under the GM-NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering, Professor Anne Condon.
