DESCRIPTION:
The Reference Department has combined with the Business and Technology Department.
Professional staff members are available to assist you with questions,
either in person or by telephone.
The General Reference and Business Department has over 15,000 reference books and
periodicals including, but not limited to, the following:
- Bibles and other religious reference books
- History, including our special collection on Black History
- Encyclopedias, dictionaries and thesauri
- Books containing information about colleges, financial aid and scholarships
- Legal references, including the New Jersey Statutes
- Medical encyclopedias and drug reference books
- Books about language and literature, including style manuals and literature
handbooks
- Biographical reference books, including Who's Who in America, the Dictionary
of Literary Biography and many others.
We also receive four daily newspapers: the Trenton Times, the Trentonian,
the New York Times, and USA Today. We have the Trenton Times and Trenton
Evening Times on microfilm from 1883 to the present;
the Trentonian on microfilm from September 1946 to the present; and the
New York Times on microfilm from 1851 to the present.

Reference Department
The Internet Room is now open but does not have regularly scheduled hours of operation and may occasionally be closed to the public. All users must register first. A significant amount of the funding for the Computer Room at the Main Library and all
of the computers and printers used to access the Internet at the Branches were provided by Technology Grants administered by the New Jersey State Library.
