An election for membership on the Council of the Ontario College of Teachers will be held in 2000.

In December 1998, the Council of the Ontario College of Teachers approved a regulation defining the rules and procedures for the next election. The regulation is currently awaiting government consideration.

The first Council election was held in February 1997 under rules set out in a regulation which expired in September of 1997. This regulation defined the 17 elected Council positions by region, panel and system. The regulation also established the requirements for nomination for each position and the voting procedures.
