Hide is basically manaless invis. The level it operates at
seems to be random (sometimes I will hide successfully and
still /con a guard as amiable, hide again successfully and
he'll /con indifferent).
Sneak is better than invis, but only outside about a 90 degree
quadrant in front of the mob. If you're sneaking, most mobs
that normally see invis (including undead) don't see you. I
suspect it's level capped too though, because I'm unable to
sneak against certain mobs.
Both seem to work great in PoH though, go figure.
