Description:

The method returns the arctangent of the specified double value.

Syntax:

double atan(double d)

Parameters:

Here is the detail of parameters:

  • d -- A double data types

Return Value :

  • This method Returns the arctangent of the specified double value.

Example:

public class Test{ 

   public static void main(String args[]){
     double degrees = 45.0;
     double radians = Math.toRadians(degrees);

     System.out.format("The value of pi is %.4f%n", Math.PI);
     System.out.format("The arctangent of %.4f is %.4f degrees %n",
                     Math.cos(radians),
                     Math.toDegrees(Math.atan(Math.sin(radians))));


   }
}

This produces the following result:

The value of pi is 3.1416
The arctangent of 1.0000 is 45.0000 degrees
