The Region IV Comprehensive Center works at the national, state, and district level. For
example:
On the National Level
- Coordinate the national Safe and Drug-Free Schools Conference
- Convene directors of the Goals 2000 Parent Assistance Centers
- Present and facilitate sessions at the regional Improving America's Schools Conference
- Collaborate with the national network of other technical assistance providers such as the
Mid-South Regional Resource Center in Kentucky, the Southeastern Equity Center, or the
Mid-Atlantic Center.
On the State Level
- Assist state department of education staff in developing consolidated plans
- Convene compensatory program coordinators from the six states in Region IV
- Collaborate to offer state Schoolwide Conferences
- Train statewide school support teams
- Assist in defining "Adequate Yearly Progress"
- Conduct training for Title II coordinators on developing performance indicators
On the District Level
- Train clusters of teachers serving migrant students
- Assist in developing assessment strategies for ESL/LEP students
- Train administrators in the local consolidated planning process
- Recommend best practices and research-based models for Title I schoolwide planning
- Conduct training for reading coaches
- Provide training for teachers on parent involvement
