Synapse- Brain and Beyond

The brain, and in particular the human brain, has been hailed as the most complicated machinery in existence. With around 100 billion neurons, and exponentially as many connections, the synaptic cleft between neurons, or the synapse, becomes the most important and fundamental unit that allows the human brain to learn. Inspired by this paradigm of building connections, recent fields such as machine learning, deep learning and computational neuroscience are continuously creating pathbreaking technologies. These include human-like droids, intelligent computer applications, computer-generated art, self-driving cars, etc. This talk would explore the origin of such inspirations, and reach out to the future we behold for technologies motivated by the human brain!
