How do I count and copy the number of pixels in a selected area?

I currently use the histogram, but that shows results in a very small font and cannot be copied to the clipboard.
I need to paste the pixel count to excel.
Any script or solution for this?

When I refresh the Scripts it gives and error- eval: unbound variable: selffilename
Can you write the script so it is ready for copy&paste? I am not experienced with scripts.
Also, what do you refer to the error console? How is this activated?

Here's a script that put the histogram data into the Error console, where it can be copied from.
