Overview

Aspin Kemp & Associates’ (AKA) Integrated Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is a highly reliable, fault tolerant and cost effective on line redundant power source, suitable for a number of mission critical systems.

It is a major leap forward when compared to conventional UPS systems as issues can be identified and resolved during normal standby operations, and it allows plant operators to be confident that control power requirements will always be available during critical situations.

The modular design of the AKA UPS inherently enables the matching of power, voltage and frequency ratings to a wide range of project specific needs. It is available for a wide range of single phase, three phase and DC input voltages. It rectifies the input feeds to maintain a battery backed internal DC bus, which feeds inverters that convert the DC power back to AC at the required phase angle, frequency and voltage magnitude. This creates a seamless DC power source, regardless of AC feed switching or loss of AC supply power. The AKA UPS ensures that the power to the loads does not vary when the feeds switch, eliminating unacceptable disturbances. Integrated hardware in the loop (HIL) test capabilities can reveal hidden faults during normal standby operations, and ensures the UPS is ready for mains power loss and is at full capacity at all times. The design of the graphical user interface facilitates easy to understand diagnostics for faultfinding with detailed alarming. The system topology and component choice allows for easy maintenance and repair.
