Various mods (such as MineFactory Reloaded and MachineMuse's Modular Powersuits) add their own Gregtech Recipes which you can look up in NEI, or disable them in their Config files, but GregTech itself changes a few recipes from IC
2 and some other mods, for balance reasons and the occasional exploit fix. All items are Ore Dictionary compatible. Some Recipes are now in the Railcraft Rolling machine, if it is available.
Most of these can be turned off in the Gregtech Config, but any changes that stop Exploits (Bronze and Tin buckets) are not able to be changed except through "TooEasyMode".
Remember that Chickenbones' mod 'Not Enough Items'
(NEI) is your best friend; this page serves to review the more notable changes.
IC² Changes
All
vanilla IC² machines (E-Furnace, Macerator, Compressor, Extractor, Canning Machine, Recycler) have been overwritten with
Automatic versions of themselves. They use the same crafting recipes and are functionally identical including in energy usage, but use the GregTech
Upgrade and
Cover systems. Additionally, they will attempt to automatically output their products to whatever inventory is connected to their output side. (The output side is labeled as a dark square on the back of the machine. This side can be changed using a
Wrench.)
The
(Automatic) E-Furnace is now crafted using a
High Pressure Steam Furnace instead of an Iron Furnace.
Basic Machine Casings now require 8 Iron Plates around a GregTech
Wrench. The Wrench takes 8 damage. Alternatively, they can be created in an
Assembling Machine by combining 8 Iron Plates with a Machine Parts. The Assembling Machine recipe is solely automation, it provides no material gain past not needing a Wrench.

Plates can no longer by crafted using 1 Ingot and an IC2 Forge Hammer, you must now use 2 Ingots and either GregTech
Hammer or a
Steam Powered Forge Hammer. The Hammer takes 4 damage. This is made more efficient once you get a
Plate Bending Machine or a Metal Former. Metal Formers still use their non-steel requiring IC2 recipe, however they cannot make any GregTech Plates. This includes Steel Plates, but not Iron.
The
Mining Drill, Chainsaw, Electric Wrench, Electric Tree Tap and Electric Hoe's recipes now require Stainless Steel Plates instead of the complicated IC2 recipe.

Diamond Drills now require 3 Industrial Diamonds, a Mining drill, an Advanced circuit and 2 Titanium plates.
There are two new Recipes for
Macerators that replace the original.
1) 4 Flint, 3 Diamonds, 1 Machine Block, 1 Advanced Circuit
2) 4 Flint, 1 Diamond Grinder, 1 Machine Block. 3 Electronic Circuits
Iridium Plates now Require Industrial Diamonds instead of Diamonds and Iridium Plates (Iridium Ingot in a Plate Bender), and can only be made in the Implosion Compressor by compressing an Iridium Alloy Ingot with 8 ITNT. Iridium Alloy Ingots are made in the Railcraft Rolling Machine.
Mining Lasers now require either a Ruby or Red Garnet Lense (made in a Plate Cutting Machine), 2 Titanium Plates, 2 Advanced Alloy, An Energy Crystal, a 360k Helium Coolant Cell and an Advanced Circuit.

Nano Sabres now require 2 Energy Flow Circuits, 2 Iridium plates, 2 Platinum Plates and a Lapotron Crystal.
Solar Panels now require 1 Glass Pane, 1 Carbon Plate, 2 Silicon Plates and 2 Electronic Circuits, and are now crafted as Covers. To create a Solar Panel (block), insert a Solar Panel Cover and a Machine Block into an Assembling Machine.
Watermills now require a Generator and 4 Aluminium Plates in an Assembling Machine.
Windmills now require a Generator and 4 Carbon plates or 2 Magnalium Plates, in an Assembling Machine.
Thick Neutron Reflectors now require 4 Neutron Reflectors and 1 Beryllium cell.
All Dense Metal Plates are now crafted with 9 of the normal metal plates in a Compressor
Up until 1.6.2, the
IC2 Mass Fabricator was disabled and replaced by the Matter Fabricator, however with the rework to the UU-Matter system, the new Mass Fabricator is considered balanced.
Its recipe is still overwritten, however, and requires a Lapotronic Energy Orb, 4 Energy Flow Circuits, 2 Teleporters and 2 Highly Advanced Machine Blocks (the old Matter Fabricator recipe).
Energium Dust is now crafted with Ruby Dust instead of Diamond Dust
[Ore Dictionary Ruby Dust is compatible]
Lapotron Crystals can now be crafted with Lazurite Dust in place of the Lapis Lazuli Dust. In former versions,
Sapphires could be used in stead of Energy Crystals. This is no longer possible.
Industrial Diamonds can now be (configurable to be forced) compressed in an Implosion compressor with either 1 Coal Chunk and 8 ITNT (for a single Diamond) or 4 Diamond Dust and 32 ITNT (for 3 Diamonds)
Industrial Diamonds can still be shapelessly crafted into normal Diamonds.
Buildcraft Changes
The
Quarry requires a Diamond Drill instead of a Diamond Pickaxe, 3 Steel Gears in stead of 3 Iron Gears, and an Advanced Circuit instead of
Redstone.
Forestry Changes
Bronze cannot be crafted in a crafting table with 3 Copper Ingots and 1 Tin Ingot anymore. To get the Bronze necessary for
Steam-Age Machines, the Bronze must be crafted with either 3 Copper Dust and 1 Tin Dust for
3 Bronze Dust, or in an
Alloy Smelter or
Steam Smelter with 3 Copper Ingots and 1 Tin Ingot for
4 Bronze Ingots. This was recently changed, as per the adjustments to the Bronze Standard. Bronze can be crafted with either normal or Dirty Copper and Tin Dust, and can also be made with (Dirty) Tetrahedrite Dust, but only gets you
3 Bronze Ingots and can only be done in an Alloy or Steam Smelter.
Crushed Copper and Tin Ores cannot be used in Bronze Dust crafting. The Crushed Ores must be further processed into Dusts, or smelted into Ingots.

Universal Electricity Changes
Machines that require
Steel Plates or
Bronze Plates now must use the GregTech version.
Additionally, UE
Steel Dust must cannot be smelted in a conventional Furnace; it must be smelted in a Railcraft Blast Furnace or GregTech Industrial Blast Furnace.
Miscellaneous Changes
Tin Buckets are no longer craftable
to stop the Exploit of turning Tin into Iron by smelting buckets back into Iron.
All Storage blocks can be crafted with 9 of the Material in a Compressor. They are then un-crafted via a Furnace for Ingots/Gems or a Macerator for Dusts.
A lot of Recipes, most of them components of different machines, can be created in the Assembler, some of them for slightly cheaper/different resources. Look through NEI or click the Progress bar (require NEI to do so) in the Assembler to see the recipes.
IndustrialCraft2 Experimental Changes
IC
2 Experimental includes a lot of changes from previous versions of IC2. These include an overhaul of the Energy Net and Nuclear Reactor systems, extension of the Macerator ore processing chain, the removal of Refined Iron, and numerous new block textures. GregTech, naturally, goes beyond these (apart from the 'many new textures').
- The Matter Fabricator has been removed, and its recipe simply overwrites that of the IC2 Mass Fabricator.
- GregTech Thorium and Plutonium Cells cannot be crafted as they crash upon usage. You have been warned!
- GregTech Plutonium is now red, instead of bright green. IC2 Plutonium is still grey.
- Sticky Resin cannot be smelted to form Rubber. In order to acquire the Rubber used by the first IC2/GT Electric machinery, a Squeezing Extractor is required. Additionally, Sticky Resin extracts to form Rubber Pulp, which is then smelted into Rubber.
- GregTech Tiny Piles of Dust (1/4th of one Dust) are now called Small Dusts, to compensate for the addition of IC2 Tiny Piles of Dust (1/9th of one Dust).
- Many IC2 Machines require Steel or Steel Machine Hulls to be crafted, where Iron would have been used in the past.
- Refined Iron Plates and Rods have been removed as Refined Iron is phased out, any old ones are automatically converted back to regular Iron.
