The Breadboard

The Breadboard

A Breadboard is used to connect circuits and components easily. This Breadboard is made up of 5 clips made of conductive metal. The clips are connected horizontally across and each rail can be used to connect a unique circuit.

The rails are connected together inside by metal clips configured like this: You can see the inside of the breadboard in the image on the right, and see clearly that the rails are connected together horizontally.

Image Breadboard with component and individual connections Components require each of their connectors to have their own electrical connections, by connecting the component horizontally like this each leg of the component is kept separate from the rest and wires can be easily attached to each separately.

Both of the connectors of the LED will be connected together if we put them on the same rail. The LED needs two connectors, not just one, so connecting them all on the same rail will result in a short circuit and electricity will not flow through the light.
