Faculty Development Programs/Fellowships

UNCF is committed to providing program services that strengthen faculty and the quality of teaching at member institutions. This objective is met through a variety of approaches: faculty fellowships that help faculty complete doctoral degrees; faculty research grants that enable faculty to enhance expertise and sharpen research skills; workshops designed to strengthen teaching techniques; distinguished lecture series; and retraining grants that enable faculty to take courses in specialized areas.

Faculty Fellowships

UNCF faculty fellowships total approximately $1 million annually. In part as a result of these awards, the percentage of UNCF faculty holding doctoral degrees has risen from 40 percent in 1980 to 56 percent in 1994. More than 200 UNCF faculty have earned doctorates with the help of UNCF faculty fellowships.
