1/4/22-1/6/22

1/4/22

Attendance: ☐ Brody, ☑ Derek, ☑ Jack

Goals:

  • Test robot on the field.

Accomplished:

  • ☑ Test robot on the field.

How:

  • Since today was our first practice back at the school, we spent today testing the robot on the field and tuning the code to make the robot function properly.

  • Jack changed the front lift code to properly move the lift and support itself while holding a goal. Just like before the robot now can lift up goals and hold them without any problem. Jack also automated the back lift by combining the two pneumatic pistons that fire. Now when Derek presses the UP button, it will clamp onto the goal and then tilt the goal into position.

  • To help with tuning the ring hood, Derek is going to switch to making a static conveyer belt hood instead of one that unfolds.

Why:

  • Jack automated the back lift so it is easy for Derek to grab goals while driving. The current automation of the robot allows for Derek to have easy and efficient control over the robot.

  • Current Button mapping

    • L1 - front Lift Up

    • L2 - Font Lift Down

    • R1 - Toggle Clamp

    • R2 - Release Clamp

    • UP - Back Lift Clamp + Tilt + Spin Conveyer

    • RIGHT - Back Lift Release + Untilt + Stop Conveyer

Plans for next Practice:

  • Start new AWP routine.

Attendance: ☑ Brody, ☑ Derek, ☑ Jack

Goals:

  • Start new AWP routine.

Accomplished:

  • Start new AWP routine.

  • Controller heartbeat timer.

How:

  • Today Jack began working on the new AWP routine. This new routine will score our preload rings on the left alliance goal then grab the two left neutral goals and then finish by grabbing the last goal and scoring match load rings we put down on the field.

  • Jack also added a new feature that rumbles the controller to tell Derek how much time has progressed in the match. The rumble start offs very slow and infrequent and as the time in the match approaches 30 seconds left it will speed up.

Why:

  • Since we have gone to two competitions now Jack believes it is important to improve our AWP routine autonomous since more teams will most likely have an autonomous that would be able to compete with our old routine.

  • Jack added the heartbeat feature because Derek wanted a system that would shake the controller based off how much time has

Plans for next Practice:

  • Build static ring hood.

Attendance: ☐ Brody, ☑ Derek, ☑ Jack

Goals:

  • Build static ring hood.

Accomplished:

  • ☑ Build static ring hood.

How:

  • Today Derek built the static ring hood to help guide the rings onto the alliance goal post. This new design is better than our previous one as it currently scored 50% of the rings onto the goal. To increase the consistency of the hood, we are going to make it longer so all orientations of the rings contact the hood. Below is a video that shows how the hood works as well as its current shortcomings.

Why:

  • This current hood does not work perfectly because it is too short and certain orientations of rings will bypass the hood instead of hitting it. Elongating the hood will solve this problem while still allowing the rings that do get scored to continue to work properly.

Plans for next Practice:

  • Lengthen the ring hood.
